Mosquitoes (Anopheles spp. & culex spp)


Characteristics
: brown yellowish, dots on interior margin of anopheles wings, and no spots on culex wings.
Behaviour: mosquitoes breed on stagnant waters. Eggs are laid on water surface. Larvae live in water. The adult female is the only stage that feeds on blood . adult males feed on nectar and plant juices. Mosquitoes are severe pests because of their annoyance to people, and may good recreational areas are not usable during certain periods of the year because of the these blood-sucking pests. Anopheles mosquitoes involved in the natural transmission of the causal agents of malaria.
